Tyler Warren 1st NFL TD Reception & Other PSU NFL Notes
Former Penn State TE Tyler Warren caught his first NFL TD pass Sunday, Oct. 5 from QB Daniel Jones in the Indianapolis Colts 40-6 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Lucas Oil Stadium. The TD pass was an 11-yarder in the 2nd quarter giving the Colts a 7-3 lead. Warren was targeted four times in the game and made all 4 receptions for 44 yards (his old PSU jersey number). This was not Tyler’s first pro TD—he had already rushed for a touchdown in the Sept. 28 Colts game at the LA Rams on a 2-yard carry up the middle in the Colts 27-20 loss.
Another former PSU Tight End, Theo Johnson, caught 2 TD passes from QB Jaxson Dart in the Giants 26-14 loss at the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Oct. 5. Theo’s TD receptions were 1-yard and 15-yards.
Also of note, the Buffalo Bills held a full-stadium Whiteout for their Sunday Night national TV telecast against the New England Patriots. The Bills are owned by Terry Pegula (well-known PSU alum & supporter), but the result was not what he wanted as the Bills lost 23-20 on a late Pats field goal. The loss was the Bills first of the 2025 season (4-1) and means that the record of the unbeaten 1972 Miami Dolphins (17-0 perfect season) will survive for another year since Buffalo had been the last undefeated NFL team this fall.
Monday’s Eagles Injury Report listed Saquon Barkley RB with knee issues (soreness) and he was upgraded in Tuesday’s report to a limited practice participant. With the Giants game, and Abdul Carter, on Thursday night, it makes for a very short week to recover. Saquon has not missed any games due to injury with the Eagles, but he suffered a torn ACL in week 2 of the 2020 season with the Giants.
Trade Report on Oct. 7: The Ravens have sent former Penn State edge rusher Odafe Oweh to the LA Chargers in a deal involving another player and draft picks. Oweh had 10 sacks (23 in NFL career) last season for the Ravens and none so far this fall.
