Tony Rojas Out with Injury

James Franklin has confirmed various media reports that Penn State starting LB Tony Rojas will miss an extended period of time with an undisclosed “significant long-term injury”. His return this season is in doubt. Rojas did spend some time on the sidelines with trainers in the loss to Oregon but continued to play into overtime. Nittany Sports Now reported that Rojas was possibly injured in practice on Sept. 30. He has recorded 25 total tackles/13 solos with 4.5 TFLs and 2 sacks in 4 games this season. James Franklin says that Dom DeLuca LB will step into Rojas’ role, and that this could result in the green lighting of true freshmen LBs Alex Tatsch and Cam Smith.

Rojas missed 2025 spring practice following shoulder surgery for an injury he suffered, and played through, last season.

PSU (3-1, 0-1) plays UCLA (0-4, 0-1) this Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. Kickoff is at 3:30pm on CBS.
