PSUstories.com is a fact-based website focused on Penn State Football past and present. The content is created, managed and edited by a Penn State grad and longstanding member of the professional media.
A word about the statistics seen on this site…
This site uses what we term “Modified/Complete” statistics. This means that stats for all seasons/players have been adjusted, where possible, to incorporate bowl/post-season stats that were not always recognized as “official” by the NCAA or the University prior to 2002. So, data here can and will differ from “official” media guides and record books but will, in fact, offer a more accurate comparison of stats across the generations.
Additionally, NCAA stats prior to 1937 are generally considered incomplete or inconsistent with modern stat-keeping. And newspaper reporting from the early years of the 20th century could, at times, offer conflicting data with “official” stats, or “blended data” where, for example, rushing yards, return yards, and receiving yards were sometimes combined into a single total of “yards gained” by an individual giving the impression he had “rushed” for far more yards than he really had. Where possible, these inconsistencies are noted.
