Dawkins Semi-Finalist for “Academic Heisman”
UPDATE: Oct. 22—The National Football Foundation announced its finalists for the 2025 Campbell Trophy and Nick Dawkins did not make the list.
Penn State’s Nick Dawkins, a Sixth-Year Senior starter at Center, is now a semi-finalist for the National Football Foundation’s 2025 Campbell Trophy for the best all-round player on-field, in academics, and in community service (commonly called the “Academic Heisman Trophy”, it was first awarded in 1990)…
UPDATE: On Sept. 30, Dawkins was named to the Watchlist for the Jason Witten College Man of the Year Award. The award is given for leadership, sportsmanship, etc. on and off the field. On Oct. 15, Dawkins was named a semi-finalist for the award.
Dawkins won the Wuerffel Trophy in 2024 for community service, leadership, and academic achievement, and has been the Lions starting center since the 2024 opener… Dawkins was also named “Captain” of the 2024 AFCA Allstate Good Works Team… And was named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten in ‘24… Nick is also a Nittany Lion Team Captain for the second straight season….
John Urschel OG was Penn State’s first and only winner of the Campbell Trophy in 2013… Penn State’s most recent nominee prior to Dawkins was Tyler Warren TE in 2024 (he also reached semi-finalist status for the award)…
Nick is the son of the late NBA & Philadelphia 76ers legend, Darryl Dawkins, and a cousin of former Philadelphia Eagles safety Brian Dawkins…
