Chaz Coleman to Enter Transfer Portal
Penn State Freshman DE Chaz Coleman announced on social media Dec. 18 that he would enter the Transfer Portal when it opens on Jan. 2. The announcement was not a surprise as it had been rumored since the end of the regular season. Coleman missed a large chunk of the Big Ten portion of the season with a “day-to-day” injury issue. His final appearance was in the Rutgers game on Nov. 29 in which he played only 7 snaps and recorded a single tackle. It was his first game action since the Ohio State loss. Overall, in his first season (and now only) with the Nittany Lions, Chaz recorded 8 tackles in 9 games with 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries.
Coleman has 3 years of eligibility remaining and is a native of Ohio which might suggest a landing spot. On3 Sports reported that new head coach Matt Campbell had made Coleman a priority and offered to pay him what was necessary, but he opted for the portal.
Coleman is the second known PSU player expected to enter the portal along with Elliot Washington II CB.
Coleman’s name/bio has been removed from the Penn State roster along with several other players reportedly bound for the portal.
On3 reported on Jan. 10. 2026 that Coleman had committed to Tennessee (as had Amare Campbell & Xavier Gilliam)
