Saquon Barkley Reaches 7500 yards Rushing in 96 Games

Saquon Barkley (PSU RB 2015-17) made a little NFL history in the Eagles 34-17 loss to the Giants Thursday night. Barkley became the 5th fastest to cross 7,500 yards in rushing and 2,500 yards in receiving in his career (and the 6th all-time to do it) in his first 100 NFL games (it was Saquon’s 96th game).

Saquon needed just 17 yards on the ground coming into the game at Met Life Stadium and he got the job done on his first carry for 18 yards to pass the 7,500-yard plateau. In the game, Barkley rushed 12 times for 58 yards and caught 2 passes for 9 yards. His new career totals are: 7,541 yards rushing and 2,515 yards receiving with both the Eagles and his former team, the Giants. He joins fellow former Eagles running back, LeSean McCoy in this club.

In 2024, Barkley became the 9th rusher in NFL history to run for over 2-thousand yards in a single season when he rushed for 2,005 yards on 345 carries. Saquon is the 5th to do it in the 21st century and the first to do it since the NFL expanded to a 17-game season in 2021 (although Barkley only played in 16 games). Saquon finished 100 yards behind the single season record holder Eric Dickerson who rushed for 2,105 yards in 1984.

NFL UPDATEThe Dallas Cowboys will place Miles Sanders RB on season-ending Injured Reserve with knee and ankle issues that caused him to miss their last game and practice this week. Sanders will undergo surgery that will sideline him for the rest of the 2025 season. He appeared in 4 games this fall after signing with the Cowboys as a free agent.
