Allen Big Ten Player of the Week 3rd Week in a Row
For the third straight week, Kaytron Allen has been honored as the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. Kaytron rushed for a career high 226 yards on 22 carries in the 40-36 win over Rutgers at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, NJ, and helped Penn State finish 6-6 to become bowl eligible. He posted 3 runs of 40+ yards in the game and also scored 1 TD giving him 15 on the season. It was his fifth game in 2025 with over 100 yards in rushing (13th of his career). The 226 yards is the most rushing yards by a PSU back since Larry Johnson rushed for 279 yards vs. Michigan State in 2002. It’s also the first 200+ yard rushing game for a Penn State RB since Journey Brown ran for 202 yards in the 2019 Cotton Bowl win over Memphis.
Allen also became the first PSU player to rush for over 4 thousand yards in his career. He’s now at 4,180 yards all-time. Kaytron also increased his season yards total to 1,303 (2nd in the Big Ten this season) which is 12th best all-time at PSU (including post-season), and 8th best all-time at PSU in the regular season alone. Allen also increased his school record for total rushes to 769. His 39 career rushing TDs are tied for 3rd all-time with Lydell Mitchell, Curtis Enis, and Ki-Jana Carter. His 43 career all-purpose TDs are tied for 3rd all-time at PSU with Lydell Mitchell.
Also of note, Amare Campbell LB has been named Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the win over Rutgers. Campbell delivered 14 tackles (5 solo) and a “scoop & score” 61-yard fumble return for a TD that proved to be the game-winner. He was also credited with a half sack for a 3-yard loss.
Penn State (6-6, 3-6) now awaits a bowl bid on Selection Sunday (Dec. 7). It is unknown whether Allen or Campbell will play in the bowl game.
